Pipe condition diagnostics with "SCANNER®"
SCANNER®, a radiographic system based on the propagation of magnetic fields (Foucault currents), is used to perform metal pipe diagnostics by means of precise measurements of internal and external corrosive attacks. Its use can anticipate instances of pipe bursts and cracks, thereby limiting the need for emergency repairs on the network.
This process, developed in England by the NWTC (Northumbrian Water Technical Centre), is nonintrusive and can be used to assess pipe conditions with a diameter of 100 mm upwards. Used on some fifteen sites, including the left bank of Paris, Creil, Béziers and Bordeaux, SCANNER® can be used without interrupting the water supply and thus without disruption to the consumer.
