Making the right replacement choice with "PREVOIR®"
Developed by the operators of Lyonnaise des Eaux and the researchers of SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT, with the support of Cemagref (Agricultural and Environmental engineering Research Centers), using so-called “survival” statistical models commonly used in insurance, epidemiology etc. and tailored to suit the water sector, PREVOIR® is a method of defining the optimum investment strategy to guarantee the long-term performance of the network.
PREVOIR® estimates the probable number of future breakages based on various criteria (age of the network, geology of the ground, urban development etc.) and compares the different replacement scenarios and their impacts. Offered in the form of a service, PREVOIR® is an innovative decision-making aid for municipalities, helping them to establish the optimum pipe replacement investment strategy.
This service has three benefits: establishing an objective dialogue with the municipality, optimising investments and improving knowledge of the network. Awarded a SUEZ Innovation prize, the PREVOIR® service has already been used successfully in the urban areas of Bordeaux, Creil and Presqu’Ile de Gennevilliers.
