Ensuring better monitoring of water consumption with "AVIZ'EAU"
The teams of Lyonnaise des Eaux and CIRSEE have developed a long-range, fixed-network remote water meter reading system, called “Aviz’eau”. Unlike the current annual meter reading system, the fixed-network remote reading system automatically transmits the water meter consumption data in real-time.
By monitoring water consumption on a daily basis, abnormal consumption is more easily identified, meaning leaks on the drinking water networks are more quickly detected. The remote reading of the meters therefore contributes, following the example of existing leak detection technologies, to optimising the management of these networks, the buried assets of local municipalities. In addition to leak detection, the remote reading system optimises metering processes and can be used to monitor consumption, thereby providing a better quality of service. This technology is currently being used in France on the left bank of Paris (28,000 meters) and in rural areas at Vrigne-aux-Bois (1,500 meters) (Ardennes).
Now offered by Lyonnaise des Eaux to all of its municipality customers, the technology is currently being used on some ten sites in France.
