The group makes a splash at IWA Europe!
The projects submitted by our BUs for the European Regional Project Innovation Awards of the IWA (International Water Association) have been very successful.
A flood of awards for the group
All of our BUs were invited to submit their projects for the IWA Project Innovation Awards.
At the first level of selection, our teams excelled with their projects, each of which was more astute and innovative than the next. Their success reflects the drive of all the Group's R&D divisions.
In the Applied Research category, the overall winner was Degrémont with their IGS technology
Agbar won an award in the Management category for their COWAMA coastal water management solution
The work of the CIRSEE on the life cycle of polyethylene also won an award in the Applied Research category
The teams were judged by a demanding jury on the following criteria:
The originality and novelty of the project
The use of new or existing technologies
The contribution and value of the project for the water industry
The social, economic and sustainable development considerations taken into account in developing the project
The complexity of the project
The degree to which it responds to an existing need

The next step after Europe
A second selection will be made within each region (Europe, Asia-Pacific, East Asia, and North America) in order to define which teams will take part in the grand final. The European regional awards ceremony will be held on 10 May in Barcelona, Spain. The final will be held at the World Water Congress organised by the IWA, which will be held on 19 to 24 September 2010 in Montreal, Canada.
